The Loneliest Whale in the World.
In 2004, The New York Times wrote an article about the loneliest whale in the world. Scientists have been tracking her since 1992 and they discovered the problem:
She isn’t like any other baleen whale. Unlike all other whales, she doesn’t have friends. She doesn’t have a family. She doesn’t belong to any tribe, pack or gang. She doesn’t have a lover. She never had one. Her songs come in groups of two to six calls, lasting for five to six seconds each. But her voice is unlike any other baleen whale. It is unique—while the rest of her kind communicate between 12 and 25hz, she sings at 52hz. You see, that’s precisely the problem. No other whales can hear her. Every one of her desperate calls to communicate remains unanswered. Each cry ignored. And, with every lonely song, she becomes sadder and more frustrated, her notes going deeper in despair as the years go by.

Reporter: I have a question to Robert and to Scarlett. Firstly to Robert, throughout Iron Man 1 and 2, Tony Stark started off as a very egotistical character but learns how to fight as a team. And so how did you approach this role, bearing in mind that kind of maturity as a human being when it comes to the Tony Stark character, and did you learn anything throughout the three movies that you made?
And to Scarlett, to get into shape for Black Widow did you have anything special to do in terms of the diet, like did you have to eat any specific food, or that sort of thing?
Scarlett: How come you get the really interesting existential question, and I get the like, “rabbit food” question?
The respect given to you if you’re a man in the entertainment business, and the respect given to you if you’re a woman in the entertainment business: all perfectly summed up in one idiotically thought out line of questioning.

Been through a lot this last 6 months
Stressed more than I should need to, taken on more than I could handle, disappoint myself more than I ever have.. But you know what, I’ve also accomplished so much and have had so many new experiences. Seeing that solar eclipse yesterday, and just spending time with my family taught me that. I can bounce back from everything, and yes, I may have fucked things up, but I finally have control of almost EVERY aspect of my life. And it was a hard adjustment and a lot more responsibility than I should have taken on at once, but we all have hardships. I’m going to come back with a vengeance. So far in 2012, I went to Tahoe for the first time, went on a helicopter for the first time, went to my first and second MLB game and finally understood baseball, went to the most amazing firework show, got a puppy, celebrated my year anniversary, and moved out and now in with my boyfriend.. Its been crazy. But worth it! :D

“Aday.org is a worldwide photography project that is being organized by the Swedish non-profit foundation ‘Expressions of Humankind.’ Their goal is pretty simple, but ambitious: on May 15th, they want everybody that joins to take a picture of their daily life and send it to them.
After they gather all the pictures, they will put them up online, in books and exhibitions as a way to preserve time for future generations. They want the images to serve as inspiration for future generations.”
